Unit Three Gallery in Bladnoch is showing an exhibition of large canvas portraits in oil and drawings by Helen Morley called Crossed Roads.

After gaining a BA (hons) in Fine Arts from the University for Creative Arts in Canterbury Helen has gone on to excel in fine art, illustration and even wallpaper designs.

A chance conversation has led to an exhibition of a series of portraits that push the viewer to examine and debate. Artists will always try to capture a likeness in a portrait but in these works Helen has succeeded in conveying the torment of human emotion.

In the open space of the gallery these large paintings can breathe and create a dramatic atmosphere. Unit Three Gallery is a working space with activity and vitality and one of the aims of the gallery is to show unusual and challenging work but in a relaxed and informal way.

Helen encourages the viewer to see the works up close, to experience the movement and direction of the paint.
