I have always been creative and recently have been able to focus fully on developing my skills in arts & crafts. I painted in watercolours for some years before attending a full-time course in Art & Design 4 years ago and learned many more painting techniques in various and mixed media.
This gave me a foundation on which to transfer skills to upcycling and painting furniture. I specialise in painting smaller pieces but also take on commissions for painting larger pieces for clients. My paint of choice is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (ASCP) which is the original and in my view the best of the chalk paints on the market. It is environmentally friendly and is sealed with wax which forms a durable finish as the paint & wax combine to cure the paint.
I publish some of my art work images as blank greetings cards and prints. I print with pigment inks on Museum quality paper and card. I enjoy trying new techniques and am constantly coming up with new ideas. Many of my pieces are witty. I take, for instance an old bathroom cabinet but reinterpret it in such a way that it can be used anywhere in a home.
I live close to The Mull of Galloway and take inspiration from natural forms and found items. I moved to my present home ten years ago to recover my health after a debilitating illness and am glad to say that I have thrived in the good sea air and natural beauty of Wigtownshire.
