EVERY gardener in Scotland must surely look to the south west with envy.

The balmy weather brought by the gulf stream recently became practically tropical, with a long spell of ­unbroken sunshine and soaring ­temperatures – but even in a normal year, the climate here allows species to flourish which would be unthinkable elsewhere in the country.

Nowhere is this more evident than at Logan Botanic Garden.
