A STRANRAER shop owner is settling into retirement after more than almost 70 years in business.
Ronnie Bowie’s store closed its doors at the start of the year, having opened away back in October 1948.
R.S Bowie, on Queen Street, sold a wide range of items throughout the years including radios and televisions.
Owner Ronnie said: “People keep saying to me they remember the shop and the number of bikes I had around. We were one of the first shops to sell televisions in the town. We sold a range of items from bikes, to batteries for radios, and also prams.”
He certainly deserves a well earned rest and has booked three holidays to Tenerife to celebrate. Enjoy Ronnie.
Ronnie Bowie was a friend of mine from Sheuchan School. We were in contact until last year by email, unfortunately I changed my email address and it would appear Ronnie also changed his. I know it is a big ask but could you either pass my email address to Ronnie or my home phone number 01507 442349.
Thanks in anticipation.
